Speaker Bio
Global Head of Sport, Trevor Watkins leads a team of over 110 sports lawyers and other professionals, delivering advice internationally.
Watkins is one of a small group of advisors to have not only created the concept of sports law but to still be at the forefront of the sports industry today, winning new mandates and working with household names across sports, media and entertainment. Placed within the world's top 20 advisors by Sport Business International, he has continued to grow and develop the sector team.
His track record is second to none. From Watkins personal leadership of the rescue of AFC Bournemouth in 1997 he has progressed to maintaining an impressive array of client relationships and also being invited to client boards and advisory groups as diverse as Sport Resolutions, the National Anti-doping Panel, the English Football League, Global Venue Services, Sported and Nordoff Robbins. Coupled with his recognized excellence in providing strategic advice and guidance on legal issues, Trevor has a stellar reputation and standing within the industry.
Independently recognized across the industry his career has been marked with multiple awards including BBC Sports Personality of the Year, one of 4 regional awards given across the United Kingdom in 1997, and an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University awarded in 2018 in recognition of his services to the development of the field of sports law and also to the town of Bournemouth.
