Goals of the United Nations Decade of International Law: Law Reform and National Programs: Remarks
Abstract
Remarks cover four areas, beginning with the importance of U.S. Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) to the activities of the United States under the Decade of International Law. Next, I will discuss the U.S. position with respect to developments in the second two-year term of the Decade. This will be followed by some observations about the U.S. record on strict adherence and respect for international law, which is one of the linchpins of the Decade. Finally, I will reflect on a few areas in which the United States can be instrumental in promoting international law and the goals of the Decade.
