Campaign Pledges to Prosecute

Abstract

Given the immense power vested in the prosecutor and the fact that more than 95 percent of chief prosecutors at the state and local level are elected, it is surprising that the ethics of pledges to prosecute have largely been ignored by both legal commentators and the media. In this column, we explore this neglected intersection of politics and ethics.
